Plagiarism Detection Policy
Originality and attribution
Manuscripts submitted to Invasive Physiotherapy and Musculoskeletal Medicine must be original. Ideas, data, images and wording from others must be properly attributed. Substantial reuse of the authors’ own previous work must also be disclosed and cited. Redundant publication and preprints are addressed in the Duplicate Publication and Preprints Policy.
Similarity screening
All manuscripts that pass the initial editorial assessment are checked with Crossref Similarity Check, powered by iThenticate, before being sent for peer review. Revised manuscripts may be checked again when they include substantial new text. The similarity report is interpreted by the editors: quotations, standard methods, references and disclosed preprints can produce legitimate matches, and no single percentage is used as an automatic threshold for acceptance or rejection.
IPMM also makes the full text of its published articles available to the Similarity Check database, so that its content can be compared against future submissions to other journals.
Assessment and response
Editors assess the nature, extent and context of matches. If there are indications of plagiarism, insufficient attribution, manipulation or fraud, they may request an explanation and supporting information from the authors before reaching a decision. Depending on severity and stage, the journal may require corrections, reject the manuscript or follow its Research Misconduct Policy. Concerns about published articles are considered under the Corrections and Retractions Policy.
Editorial framework
The journal follows its Editorial Code of Ethics and refers to COPE guidance on suspected plagiarism in submitted manuscripts.
