Advertising Policy
This Advertising Policy forms part of the Editorial Policy of Invasive Physiotherapy and Musculoskeletal Medicine (IPMM) and sets out the principles and conditions governing the acceptance, presentation and management of any advertising or sponsorship content, whether in the journal's digital edition, on its website or across any of its associated dissemination channels. Its purpose is to safeguard editorial independence, scientific integrity and the trust of authors, reviewers and readers.
Editorial independence
The acceptance of advertising or sponsorship in no case conditions editorial decisions. Advertisers and sponsors do not intervene, directly or indirectly, in the selection, peer review, acceptance, rejection, editing or publication schedule of manuscripts. Decisions on any scientific contribution rest exclusively with the editorial team and are governed by the academic criteria set out in our Peer Review Policy and our Code of Ethics. Revenue from advertising or sponsorship is allocated to sustaining the journal's editorial activity and, given that the journal levies no submission or publication fees in accordance with its Open Access Policy, it helps to maintain its open access model.
Separation of advertising and scientific content
All advertising content is clearly and unambiguously identified as such, so that readers can distinguish it without confusion from editorial and scientific content. The journal does not accept formats liable to be mistaken for academic material, such as advertorials presented in the guise of an article. Likewise, advertising for a specific product is not placed alongside editorial content dealing specifically with that same product, its category or its indications, so as to avoid any appearance of scientific endorsement.
Acceptance criteria
Advertising must be truthful, lawful, honest and respectful of human dignity, and must be relevant to the field of invasive physiotherapy, musculoskeletal medicine and related health sciences. As a scientific and healthcare publication edited in Spain and within the European Union, all advertising must comply with applicable legislation, in particular Spanish Law 34/1988 on Advertising, Law 29/2009 on unfair competition, Regulation (EU) 2017/745 on medical devices and its implementing Spanish legislation, as well as the rules on the advertising of medicinal products for human use (Royal Decree 1416/1994 and Royal Legislative Decree 1/2015). Advertising of prescription-only medicinal products shall be directed solely to healthcare professionals, in accordance with current legislation.
Content not accepted
The journal does not accept advertising for tobacco or tobacco-derived products, alcoholic beverages, weapons, illegal products, or therapies or products whose efficacy or safety lacks scientific support, nor misleading, discriminatory advertising or advertising that infringes fundamental rights. Content that conflicts with the values and mission of the publication is likewise not accepted.
Approval and right of withdrawal
The editorial management, in coordination with the publishing body, reserves the right to accept, reject or withdraw any advertisement at any time, without justification beyond this policy. The inclusion of an advertisement or sponsorship does not imply endorsement or recommendation, on the part of the journal or its editorial team, of the products or services advertised, nor of any claims made about them by the advertiser, who is solely responsible for the truthfulness and lawfulness of the content.
Advertising in the digital environment
On the website, advertising and sponsorship spaces are placed so as not to interfere with reading or with access to scientific content. No intrusive formats that hinder navigation are used, nor advertising based on tracking the individual behaviour of users. The processing of data and the use of cookies associated with the site's activity are governed by our Privacy Statement and our Cookies Policy.
Sponsorship
Institutional or commercial sponsorship of the journal, of thematic issues or of specific activities is disclosed transparently and is subject to the same principles of editorial independence. The identification of sponsors never confers any influence over scientific content.
Complaints
Any reader or interested party may submit enquiries or complaints regarding published advertising through the journal's contact address. Complaints are handled in accordance with the journal's general editorial management and good-practice procedures.
